Privacy policy

Draft, last updated 19 October 2026. mnm.auction is in testing and these pages may change before launch.

mnm.auction is a fan site. It has no reason to know who you are, so it is built to hold as little about you as possible. What isn't stored can't leak.

What we keep

  • A scrambled code made from your Discord ID. It lets us recognise you when you sign in again. It is a keyed hash: without a secret key that never leaves our server, nobody can turn it back into your Discord account.
  • The display name you chose, and anything you add yourself: characters, recipes, inventory, listings and seller profiles. Character names are names from the game.
  • The date you last used the site (the date, not the time), so seller profiles of players who have stopped playing can be hidden.
  • Your appearance settings, so they follow you between devices.
  • Item suggestions you send: the details, your note, the moderator's decision and any screenshots. Screenshots are re-saved on our server, which strips hidden data such as location and camera details. For now only moderators can see them. They are deleted if the suggestion is rejected, and moderators delete any showing chat or other players' names, so please crop to the item.

What we don't keep

No email address, real name, Discord username, avatar or Discord access token. Discord will tell you we can see your username and avatar; we discard them as soon as you are signed in, and we cancel the access Discord gives us straight away.

IP addresses and security

Like any website, our server sees your IP address with every request. We log it for 14 days to protect the service, then delete it. An address blocked for abuse is also unblocked after 14 days. For abuse we do keep a monthly count per region (region, month, reason and count, with no addresses), in case a region ever has to be blocked.

Sharing with the game's developers

We don't sell or share your data. The one exception: if Niche Worlds Cult asks us to help investigate cheating, real-money trading or other abuse of their game, we share what we hold about the accounts involved. That is display names, characters, listings, suggestions and trade records, plus IP logs if the request comes within their 14 days. We have no email addresses, real names or Discord identities to share. We act only on requests we can confirm come from Niche Worlds Cult.

Cookies and tracking

One cookie keeps you signed in, and two short-lived ones carry you through signing in. There are no analytics, adverts or third-party scripts, and our fonts are served from our own server. Your appearance settings are also kept in your browser's storage.

Deleting your account

Settings > Account > Delete account removes your account and everything attached to it at once, with no copy kept. Game data you contributed to the shared catalog stays, because it is shared under CC BY-SA 4.0, but it is credited to “a former player” instead of you. A ban on your Discord account is kept even if you delete your account.
